Spring 2026: L2A’s research into the contamination of aquatic agro-systems featured in the mainstream press

In spring 2026, several studies carried out at L2A on the contamination of aquatic agro-systems were featured in the mainstream press, illustrating the laboratory’s contribution to the dissemination of knowledge to society.
*Le Chasseur Français* (June 2026) reported on research into the presence of pesticide residues in fish ponds (‘Agricultural pollution: Fish show little contamination’, Le Chasseur Français no. 1552), linked to work arising from the CABARETox project, as well as research into avian botulism in lentic ecosystems as part of the CHABOTÉ and PNR EST Botulisme projects (“Botulism: A research project”, Le Chasseur Français no. 1552).
At the same time, *Que Choisir* (No. 657, May 2026) devotes three pages to the catfish as an indicator of pollution in rivers and streams, citing Damien Banas’s research and expertise on the contamination of watercourses at the catchment level. This latter theme is indeed at the heart of the Glanistox and Glan’Est projects, which began in 2026 at the L2A.
These media reports directly relate to the three main research topics being developed at the L2A as part of the cross-cutting theme ‘contamination of aquatic agro-ecosystems’: pesticides, avian botulism and the catfish as a sentinel species. They demonstrate the societal relevance of this research, which lies at the interface between the quality of aquatic agro-ecosystems, biodiversity, public health and water resource management. They are fully in line with the L2A’s missions of science communication and knowledge transfer to practitioners in the field, aquatic environment managers and the general public.
