JILO 2026 will welcome the French-speaking limnology and oceanography community to Metz

The 7th International Conference on Limnology and Oceanography (JILO 2026) will be held in Metz from 12 to 15 October 2026, under the auspices of the French Association of Limnology. This conference will bring together the French-speaking community working on continental and marine aquatic environments. It will address issues relating to the understanding, monitoring, conservation and restoration of aquatic biodiversity, as well as associated ecosystems such as wetlands, riparian environments and riparian forests, against a backdrop of global change. This Metz edition is being organised at the University of Lorraine, with strong involvement from colleagues specialising in aquatic ecology. The L2A is involved through the participation of Damien Banas on the organising committee, alongside colleagues engaged in the scientific and logistical preparation of the event.
JILO also provides a forum for exchange between scientists and those involved in the management of natural environments. The programme will cover, in particular, ecological monitoring, bio-indication, long-term monitoring, invasive alien species, emerging risks in aquatic environments, the links between global change and biodiversity, as well as the management and restoration of ecosystems.
Hosting the 2026 JILO in Metz presents a significant opportunity to strengthen dialogue on aquatic environments, wetlands and associated socio-ecosystems – themes that are also central to the research conducted at L2A on ponds, contaminants and the functioning of aquatic agroecosystems.
Abstract submissions and registrations will open in early April 2026. The deadline for abstract submissions is 3 July 2026, with early registration closing on 24 July 2026 and late registration on 11 September 2026.
