Damien Banas joins the Scientific Council of the Lorraine Regional Nature Park
Published on 17/06/2025
After more than a year's work, the Lorraine Regional Nature Park set up a Scientific Council in 2025. Damien Banas, a member of L2A, has joined the group because of his expertise in ponds and small bodies of water, which form a large part of the Park's territory.
For over 15 years, it has been studying the contaminants present in these sensitive environments, assessing their effects on biodiversity, human health and livestock farming. These ecosystems, which are both reservoirs of biodiversity and drinking water resources, play a major ecological and health role on a regional and cross-border scale.
This appointment illustrates the commitment of the Université de Lorraine and the L2A to serving the general interest, by providing invaluable scientific support for the preservation of natural environments and the sustainable management of resources. It also demonstrates the close links between science, the region and society.
